Koch Fellow

The Charles G. Koch Summer Fellow Program combines a paid public policy internship with two career skills seminars and weekly policy lectures. You’ll gain real-world experience, take a crash course in market-based policy analysis, and hone your professional skills. The intensive ten-week program begins in June and includes a $1,500 stipend and a housing allowance.

Overview                 

  • 10-week program: June 5 – August 13, 2010
  • Eight-week internship at a state or federal policy organization
  • Week-long career and policy seminars, before and after the internship
  • Weekly lectures on popular policy issues
  • $1,500 stipend plus housing assistance
  • A limited number of travel scholarships
  • Open to undergraduate, recent graduates, and graduate students

Two Policy Tracks

Internships are available at more than 90 think tanks and nonprofits involved with state or federal policy located across the United States.

  • State Policy – Intern at a State Policy Network think tank in one of more than 34 states. Influence legislation and analyze regulations at the state level. Help publish articles, editorials, or letters in state or local papers. Choose from more than 45 organizations including Texas Public Policy Foundation, Goldwater Institute, and Mackinac Center for Public Policy. Learn more »
  • Federal Policy – Intern at one of more than 40 Washington, DC, organizations. Help reduce the size and scope of the federal government. Choose from a range policy issues: Americans for Tax Reform strives to reduce taxes; Drug Policy Alliance wants to end drug prohibition; Environmental Literacy Council promotes free market environmental solutions. Are you looking for the Koch Associate Program (KAP)?
The Koch Associate Program (KAP) is a one-year program administered by the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation.

The Koch Associate Program includes a year-long public policy internship at a Washington, DC, nonprofit organization plus Market-Based Management training. The program is a unique opportunity for promising leaders and entrepreneurs interested in liberty to gain valuable work experience and to learn how to use MBM® principles to make nonprofit organizations more efficient and effective.

During the year-long program, Koch associates develop the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary for careers with market-oriented think tanks, policy institutes, and other non-profit organizations. Associates intern for four days each week at a nonprofit organization and one day each week learning Market-Based Management® at the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation.
