In the world of academia the quality of published original research has a direct impact on your value as a scholar. If you are interested in gaining more insight into preparing journal-worthy articles for publication, consider the IHS Summer Publishing Workshop.
This interactive, online workshop will go into great detail about the ins and outs of the publishing experience offering valuable advice and guidance for the entire process in order to turn coursework papers into scholarly articles, including personalized feedback on your work.
Participants will also be paired with a professor with matching research interests for live, one-on-one feedback in an online breakout.
Highlights of the workshop:
- Discovering the strengths and weakness of your paper or article
- Turning coursework papers into part of your research agenda
- Determining where you should submit your papers and how many times can you shop a paper out
- Understanding the peer review process and what it entails
- Turning rejections into opportunities
July 23, 3:00 pm
Please Note: The deadline to submit an application and paper for consideration is Tuesday, July 1, 2014. Notifications of acceptance into the workshop will be sent by Friday, July 11, 2014. (Some applicants will be wait-listed. In those cases you will still be able to ‘attend’ the lectures and observe the workshop.)
Candidates must currently be enrolled in a graduate school program in the social sciences, humanities or law. Undergraduates who intend to pursue a graduate school program may also be considered provided they submit a paper as well. A passion for ideas of individual liberty and economic freedom is preferred.
Applicants must submit a paper or article to be critiqued in the workshop with their application. Dissertations and books are, unfortunately, not acceptable.
