If you are writing on immigration for academic or policy outlets and are attending the Southern Economics Association conference, the Institute for Humane Studies invites you to apply for an Academic Research Symposium on “The Political Economy of Immigration and Institutions”, to be held the afternoon before SEA on November 19 at The Marriott Marquis Houston. If accepted, IHS can provide hotel accommodations on the night of the 19th. The symposium will feature a keynote with Alex Nowrasteh and Ben Powell on their new book Wretched Refuse? The Political Economy of Immigration and Institutions. It will be followed by a panel on the impact of immigration on institutions (speakers TBD) and then a breakout session where attendees can discuss their research ideas and questions with speakers and each other. The symposium concludes with a cocktail hour. If you are interested, please apply and make clear how your current research interests pertain to immigration.
