These funding opportunities are available for all academic career levels from graduate students to tenured faculty members.

Hayek Fund
Advance your research within your discipline. Receive a grant to cover PhD application fees, research assistants, travel costs, conference fees, and other career-related expenses.
Funding for Graduate Students
This level of funding is open to graduate students aspiring to become faculty members. Qualifying applicants will not have accepted a faculty position.
Humane Studies Fellowship
Stand out in a competitive market. PhD students can receive up to $15,000 in support and gain access to IHS’s vast academic network and comprehensive suite of career advancing programming.

Funding for Every Faculty Level
These opportunities are open to faculty members currently employed by a university or college.

Grant for Free Speech & Open Inquiry
Faculty can receive $5,000 – $25,000 to support research, teaching, or student programs on topics related to free speech and open inquiry.
Sabbatical Research Fellowship
IHS offers funding for semester-long sabbaticals to faculty looking to conduct research on classical liberal ideas. Sabbatical Research Fellowships are offered at two levels, $85,000 and $50,000. Awards are not limited to tenured faculty. Faculty at any stage of their career may apply.
