Whether you’re new to IHS, or have attended one of our seminars in the past, IHS Summer Seminars will engage your mind and inspire you to dig deeper into the principles of liberty.

The seminars involve lectures, breakout sessions among peers, and faculty-led groups to explore the ideas of classical liberal thought even further. Lectures will take in an interdisciplinary mix of ideas from history, economics, political science, and law to offer new insights and inspiration for tackling the many issues facing our society.

Throughout the day, you’ll debate and discuss these ideas with enthusiastic faculty and equally passionate peers. At IHS summer seminars, you’ll hone your critical thinking skills, gain entrée to an amazing interdisciplinary network, and even discover potential career possibilities.

Our intermediate seminars (listed below) offer a fun, open environment to stretch your mind further in the ideas of classical liberal thought as you apply them to current issues facing our society.

Justice, Equality, & Liberty: A Moral Examination of Freedom

This seminar offers those with a solid foundation in the ideas of freedom an opportunity to as the big questions about the ethics and morality of freedom and capitalism. It will take an interdisciplinary approach to address pressing, moral problems.

Assuming you’re versed in the foundations of classical liberal thought, this seminar will scratch farther below the surface to learn more about the moral critiques against freedom and capitalism, weigh them fairly, and start to look for solutions.

Slightly more rigorous than our other offering, this seminar will go beyond your foundational, interdisciplinary exposure to the classical liberal tradition and challenge you to start applying it to ongoing questions about free societies.

Through interdisciplinary lectures, discussions, peer debates, and other activities, it will take your intellectual explorations of libertarian thought to the next level.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to attend career workshops about the possibilities a life in freedom will afford you.
