Courtney Derr is the Managing Director of Student Education at the Institute for Humane Studies, leading a passionate and talented team dedicated to supporting and partnering with faculty to bring thought-provoking, world-class educational events, programs, and resources featuring classical liberal ideas and scholars to campuses around the country.
Courtney joined IHS in 2011 and oversaw the planning and execution of IHS’s 50th anniversary dinner. Since then, she’s worn many hats at IHS – planning events for IHS supporters around the country, temporarily leading the marketing and communications team through a leadership transition, and supporting a previous Senior Director of Programs as deputy. Courtney has nearly 10 years of non-profit experience and previously worked at the Tax Foundation and an anti-corruption NGO in addition to a brief stint in politics on Capitol Hill.
Courtney has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Washington in Seattle.
