Immigration and Election Cycles

Overview

Connect with other scholars to share your thoughts on the impact elections may have on immigration policy and attitudes about immigration, as well as how this could affect future research. This casual networking forum will commence with opening remarks given by Dr. Mashail Malik, assistant professor of government at Harvard University, and Dr. Tony Payan, director of the Center for the US and Mexico at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy.

Following these remarks, participants will have the opportunity to join a breakout discussion where they can connect with other researchers working on similar issues and further hone their own research ideas.

The breakout rooms will be organized as follows:

  • Elections, Public Opinion, and Assimilation Efforts | Moderated by Dr. Mashail Malik Elections
  • Migration Views, and Visa Statuses | Moderated by Dr. Tony Payan

Please come prepared to discuss your current research and share ideas for future academic research or public-facing work, such as op-eds.
