Alessandro Del Ponte is an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Alabama, a visiting assistant professor at the Smith Institute for Political Economy and Philosophy at Chapman University, and a visiting research professor at the Global Asia Institute at the National University of Singapore (NUS).

Previously, he held postdoctoral appointments at Yale University and NUS. He holds a PhD in political science from Stony Brook University (where he managed the experimental economics lab), an MPA from SUNY Albany, and an economics degrees from Bocconi (MSc) and the University of Genoa (BSc).

He works in the areas of experimental political economy, political psychology, and environmental public health. He enjoys working with colleagues across different subfields and disciplines to tackle the pressing questions of our time, such as climate change, economic crises, and the rise of nationalistic politics. He teaches courses on experimental methods, survey design, moral psychology, and behavioral economics. He currently serves as an academic editor at the journal PLOS Climate.

His articles have appeared in journals across several disciplines, including Nature Communications, the Journal of Politics, Political Behavior, Political Psychology, Environmental Pollution, Science of the Total Environment, and the Journal of Environmental Psychology among others. His research has been funded by the Russell Sage Foundation among others.
