Alexander W. Craig is an assistant professor of economics at Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame, IN. His research investigates the political economy of social life, particularly in the context of (re-)development. He has written on the role of civil society in development and disaster recovery, the features of liberal democracy that led to increased LGBT+ freedom, the club good nature of social capital, the importance of free markets for social freedom, and more. He teaches a wide range of courses including Principles of Macroeconomics, Development Economics, Progress Studies, Mainline Political Economy, and more. Before coming to Saint Mary's College he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Economics at New York University and earned his PhD in economics from George Mason University.
