Immigration Enforcement and the Workforce: A Proposals Workshop

Zoom
January 29, 2027 · 5:00 PM – 9:30 PM

Overview

The Institute for Humane Studies is pleased to invite scholars to a proposals workshop on immigration enforcement and the workforce. As enforcement policies accelerate and reshape labor markets across the country, IHS invites scholars to submit and receive feedback on proposals related to the economic consequences of immigration enforcement. The program will feature opening remarks from Professor Catalina Amuedo-Dorantes, who will provide feedback and discussion on participant proposals throughout the workshop.

If your research relates to immigration enforcement, labor markets, or the economic effects of immigration policy, we encourage you to apply. We are particularly interested in engaging scholars whose research examines how immigration enforcement is reshaping the immigrant workforce and the broader US economy. Areas of particular interest include:

  • Enforcement spillovers on local labor markets
  • Labor network effects and workforce disruption
  • Caregiving workforce and long-term care
  • Immigrant entrepreneurship and innovation
  • Long-term effects of enforcement on households and communities

Please include an abstract or working proposal in your application.

All participants will be expected to submit a working proposal of approximately 1,500 words and to read and provide comments or feedback on other participants' proposals.

This workshop will take place on January 29 from 12:00 to 4:30 PM Eastern Time and will be hosted via Zoom.
