Overview
This applied workshop is an intensive full-day professional development program to prepare early-career policy researchers and advanced PhD students for opportunities offering expert testimony to legislative bodies.
Participants will receive hands-on training in drafting and presenting their remarks, anticipating legislator questions, and maintaining an authoritative scholarly decorum while offering remarks in a charged political setting. The program features faculty trainers with extensive experience translating academic findings into actionable information for policymakers.
Through interactive sessions, guided mock preparation exercises, and substantive engagement with peers and mentors, attendees will leave confident in their ability to testify when called. It will also be an opportunity to sharpen communication skills, deepen policy fluency, and strengthen professional networks.
Designed for scholars interested in advancing classical liberal perspectives in policy, the program fosters long-term collaboration and supports participants as they pursue placements and careers in think tanks, academia, and policy institutions.
