Dr. John Moore joined the Walsh faculty as an adjunct professor in the finance and economics department in 1994, later becoming a full-time member in 2008. Dr. Moore has taught several economics, finance, and accounting courses during his tenure at Walsh. His research interests include business and economic history, economic policy and the State, the impact of technology on the economy, trade policy, business cycles, the history of capital markets, monetary and fiscal policy, and commercial real estate. Dr. Moore earned his BBA in accounting from the University of Notre Dame and his doctorate in economic history at Wayne State University. He is also a registered CPA and previously worked for the international accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand. His professional career includes over thirty years as a chief financial officer in the commercial real estate and construction industries.

John frequently presents to academic and industry conferences where he mixes his “Street Smarts” from his business career with “Big Ideas” from his academic endeavors, conveying innovative knowledge and ideas in a manner where they can be applied to solving real world challenges and opportunities. In 2026, he was awarded a visiting scholar fellowship with the American Institute for Economic Research.
