Jonathan Oxley is an assistant professor in the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University. He holds a PhD in economics from Florida State University. Prior to joining Georgia State University, he was a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Economics at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Oxley’s research primarily performs quantitative analysis on nonprofit organization operations and donor behavior using applied econometrics and experiments. His research interests include nonprofit organization operation decisions surrounding entry, exit, revenue strategies, operational efficiency, and organizational affiliations, along with how each of these operation decisions impacts donor behavior.

His research has been published in Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly, Nonprofit Management and Leadership, Voluntas, and the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization. Dr. Oxley's ongoing research has received funding from Georgia Policy Lab's Engaged Research Competition and the Association for Fundraising Professionals Foundation for Philanthropy's Wilson C. "Bill" Levis Fundraising Grant.

Furthermore, Dr. Oxley has contributed to the field through two book chapters covering religious nonprofit organizations and the economics of religion. He was also awarded a Lake Institute Network of Emerging Scholars Fellowship by The Lake Institute of Faith and Giving at Indiana University, Indiana in 2025, and a Humane Studies Fellowship by the Institute of Humane Studies from 2019 to 2021.
